Hi people

I'm going to build myself a new computer (tired of that damn overheating laptop) and I would like your opinions of the parts and desktop case I'm going to buy.

Here are the parts:

Desktop Case: HAF 922 Mid Tower

Motherboard: MSI 770-C45, Socket-AM3, DDR3 (no website, sorry)

Screen: Samsung 24" LCD Syncmaster P2450H (no website, sorry)

Graphic Card: HIS HD 4670 IceQ Native HDMI 1GB (128bit) DDR3 AGP (It says avaible in Japan only, but that's a lie)

RAM: Corsair Dominator DHX+ DDR3 1600MHz 6GB (no website, sorry)

Harddrive: Hitachi Deskstar™️ 7K1000.C 1TB

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition

Sound Card: Creative SB X-Fi XtremeGamer

Speakers: Logitech Surround Sound Speaker Z506

These are the current parts I am going to buy (as soon my wallet grows a few inches)

Everything is exchangeable right now, nothing is bought, that's why I want your opinion Very Happy

Thanks for your replies in advance!

Might be easier to post your total budget for the pc and then work from there - I would go for an i7 920 over the AMD Phenom II X4 965 anyday and with some low cost water-cooling you can over-clock it to 4ghz which will run circles around the processor you listed, you might also want to look at investing in a direct x 11 card.

About the processor: My budget isn't that big ^^
I can go for max 250 USD for a processor Razz

About the Graphics Card: Looking as we speak...

EDIT: Yikes!! I found a major flaw in my built!!!
The Motherboard and Current Graphics Card doesn't like eachother Sad

So I HAVE TO change Graphics Card....

EDIT2: Okey, I have a choice here... It's between these Graphic Cards:

ASUS Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3 Silent

HIS Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3

PowerColor Radeon HD 5570 1GB DDR3

Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5

Wich should i choose?
I'm not a computer expert so I need help Razz

i'd go for the brand new nvidia 460 gtx. beats all cards in same price level, doesnt cost too much (may u get two of them!) and it supports dx 11 and pyhisx! processor i7 is the bether choice imo too.

hmmm, here in Norway, those nVidia graphic cards are twice the price as the ATI ones i listed :S

And, I can't afford that i7 processor ^^

EDIT: In Norway, those i7 processors goes from 2500 - 7300 NOK (divide by 6 to get USD)

buy a norway hardware magazine or check out a good site. they will tell you what has best price/performance rating atm. imo its the best thing you go for not the newest components but still good ones. you will have to buy sooner a new pc but the money you save over compensates this bc of the exponential rising prices for the newest processors/graphiccards. at least thats what i use to do Smile

DO you guys really rathe the i7's over the Phenoms? Iv never used Intel CPUs and im with my first Nvidia gfx card at the minute and im not impressed. on my upcoming build i was planning on using a phenom II 955 on a mobo with the amd 890fx chip and 890sb with an ATI gfx card...iv heard the overclocking that can be done on a full AMD system is quite good especialy now watercooling is cheap.

Don't forget to buy a decent powersupply
Most error is that the powers supply is not big enough Smile

Yes, this is true. And buy quality! Don't be afraid to spend more on it.

I just had my PC down for a power supply error. Funny thing is that I had 700W one, changed to 550W (spent like 140€ on it - which I think is average for a power supply) and working. But you can calculate how much power + - your set is going to take. For example in my case, the most power takes graphics card, something like 200-230W -> madness Very Happy.

Anyway, don't be affraid to buy good power supply Smile
